Our History
It is believed that founder monk came to this area at this time. This area was an undeveloped rural area and the temple was started from a small hut made of clay on the land donated by the donors.
It was during this time that the foundation stone of the idol was laid and the temple industry started. Accordingly, the Uman Vihara and the Asu Atarian statue were started during this period
.The founder died in August 1968. Later, his senior student Reverend Daulagala Sangharatana became the head of the temple. He founded Bhikshu School Sunday School Vocational Training Institute.
The present temple abbot, Kegalle Rathanasara Thero, became the temple abbot after Daulagala Sangharathana Thero. He established a social service organization called Obamama Organization and did a lot of social work through it. At present, many development activities are being done in the temple and a lot of services are being done through the temple as an educational center, a cultural center and a social service institution.
We organize regular meetings for mentors who want to share their wisdom and for apprentices who want to find enlightenment.
Buddhist religion is not imposed on our guests. You do not even have to be a Buddhist to come and stay as long as you wish. We teach the way of thinking, not the rules of life.
